VIVA LAS COLLINGWOOD
We bloody love parties. And a little while back we threw a little shindig to celebrate the launch of our very own bricks and mortar chapel in Collingwood. It was a rather epic affair, befitting the epic vibes we envisage our weddings will pump out.
The chapel is housed at School House Studios in Rupert St, Collingwood. And boy oh boy, is it THE place to be! There are so many rad places popping up around these parts. Collingwood really is a hub of creative and culinary energy. We are stoked to be in the hood!
We wanted to channel this unique vibe into the design of our chapel. And we also wanted to create a little slice of Vegas with neons and disco balls and lions and tigers and oh my! We obviously had no idea how to put these ideas into a living, breathing reality, so enlisted the help of our friend and freakin’ awesome stylist/designer/ideas-enabler Kate Forsythe from Good Day Rentals to get this dream a rollin’. Kate patiently sat with us and listened to us babble away about our dream space. She somehow took our ramblings, condensed them into a very palatable mood-board and then set about sourcing bits and pieces to bring our baby to life. You can read all about the design process here. A great read FYI because Kate is also a wordsmith #WERD
Anyway, she basically excelled. And we are beyond happy with the result.
SHINY DISCO BALLS
Kate and her crew also decked out the larger space at School House Studios and basically transformed a fairly industrial space into a cosy den for partying. It’s the kind of vibe couples can expect from our Wham Bam Weddings
We also needed some really cool florals that were so cool they ‘had never been done before’ so naturally we contacted Meg from Good Grace and Humour who somehow conjured this epic creation! And no, that is not dried cabbage, it’s LOTUS FLOWERS gone LOCO and geez it looked AMAZE! So much so, we had numerous punters ask if they could take it home as art. QUDOS!
LOTUS-LICIOUS!
The evening kicked off with a dinky di hitching in our chapel for two total sweethearts, Lucille and Billy. Aren’t they the cutest?! (And so is their babe, Rupert)
Glorious girl behind the lens, Miranda Stokkel, took some beautiful images.
Our man, Cribbesy presided over proceedings in all his glitter suit glory.

Ross from Bloom Boy created this cool as heck floral/lighting bolt installation thing. Kapow!

And how freakin’ cool does this neon cross (sweet baby Jesus!!!) look in our lil’ chapel. Oli and Matt from The Arborists are funny as f$%k and are also really great at making cool shit that glows.

And check this for a cake fix! Mirjana from Torte by Mirjana is basically a baking wizard. Her cakes almost look too good to eat. But we eat them because they taste about 15/10.

Our mates at Fat and Skinny Catering are the coolest culinary cats in the wedding industry. And they are also the funniest. Naomi and her team had our guests salivating good vibes with their tasty Vegas-inspired treats – mini beef and bacon cheeseburgers, peanut butter/jam/bacon mini subs, buttermilk chicken drumettes. It was all DAMN GOOD. In fact, good enough for a KING (who incidentally rocked up and sang some tunes because #vegas)

Once Elvis had left the building, Melbourne’s cool king of soul, DJ Vince Peach took to the decks and span some smooth, smooth beats. And our mate Dan from Griffin Alliance stepped in when Vince needed to hit the sack.

OH HOW WE DANCED! And carried on like loveable clowns at the best photobooth in town, Heartbreak Hotel. These guys have your wedding snappy snap needs down pat. TOO MUCH FUN!
Dee and Sarah might look like super-hot-glamazons in these pics but that’s only because make up wiz, Margeux from The Distinctive Dame transformed their tired-mum-with-three- kids faces from looking a bit…well…erm…OVERWHELMINGLY EXHAUSTED…to OVERWHELMINGLY (but very naturally) CLASSY AND SHIT TOGETHER PEOPLE.
All in all, it was a cracker-jack of an evening. ONLY made possible by these extraordinarily talented wedding industry peeps. And the little chapel that could.
In peace and love,
#vivalascollingwood
